Our Team
Bringing together a diverse background of skills and experiences, the QUASR team is uniquely positioned to tackle advanced collaborative research in clinical science, biomechanics, tissue engineering, bio-fabrication, computational modelling and Nano-technology to become a global front runner in shoulder research.
DR Jashint Maharaj
Jashint is a clinical researcher with interest in Orthopaedic shoulder bio- and pathomechanics. He has a background in Public Health and Clinical Education, and looks to further his interest in orthopaedic research. He is the research co-ordinator of QUASR’s trans disciplinary team.
Marine Launay
Marine has completed her Master of Biomedical Engineering from UTC in France and is currently working as a Research & Development Engineer in shoulder surgery. Her keen interest is to put her technical skills and knowledge to clinical applications.
Nicholas Green
Nicholas runs a 3D medical modelling lab at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH). His focus lies on advanced segmentation of images and production of 3D printed models for research and surgical use.
Dr Namal ThibBotuwawa
Namal is a Post Doc researcher. His expertise lies in nano adaptation and cartilage research. He is collaborating with the students to guide various biomechanical and cartilage projects.
Post Graduate Students
Max LAVAILL
Max is doing his PhD at QUASR/QUT. His project focuses on modelling soft tissues actions implied in shoulder stability and motion. Computational modelling as well as human kinematics and EMG recordings are the key tools he works with.
XiaoLong FAn
Xiaolong has completed his masters studying the cartilage of the kangaroo shoulder. He is studying implant characteristics for shoulder arthroplasty.
Undergraduates Students
JACOB WILLEMS
Jacob is a Mechanical Engineering student conducting his final year honours thesis at QUASR. His project focuses on the use of CT images to develop patient specific and population based shape models.
CHRISTINA SAKKAS
Tina is a Mechanical Engineering student performing her final year research project at QUASR. With a background in physiotherapy, she has experience with anatomy and biomechanics. Her project, focuses on biomechanics around Reverse Shoulder Arthroplasty.
LUKE GILLILAND
Luke is a final year Medical Engineering student minoring in Biology and Nanotechnology. He has keen interests in the design and fabrication of patient-specific orthopaedic implants. His project within QUASR focuses on shoulder segmentation MRI.
HARRISON STANFIELD
Harry is a Mechanical Engineering student, minoring in Mathematics and Computational and Simulation Science. He is carrying out his final year thesis at QUASR, focussing on Stemless Total Shoulder Arthroplasty.
